Printing 101: Output Two Projects On One Piece Of Film
If you find yourself needing two print projects output to film, you can save money by printing both of them onto a larger sheet of film as long as each project holds the same film specificiations. Instead of producing separate films for each job, combine them on one.
Figure 1
Two pieces of 8.5″ x 11″ film, placed side by side, measures the same height and width as (1) tabloid-sized film (i.e. 8.5″ + 8.5=17.0) piece.
TIP: A service bureau may charge $18 for an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of film but only charge $30 for a film sized at 11″ x 17″ — ($18 + $18 = $36), resulting in a savings of $6 each time you run two print projects as a “combined run” for film output.
Bottom Line: If both of your print projects will fit onto a tabloid-sized film sheet, output them together. Savings like this can add up significantly over time.

Bonnie,
I am assuming that we make sure each job has the same colors, right?
Thanks,
